Alstoe - “Growth through knowledge and expertise, with products tailor made for veterinary use”

Alstoe Animal Health, is an independent UK based veterinary products company which was established in 1994. The company’s strategy of constant communication with its customer base has enabled it to be very successful at interpreting and anticipating veterinary needs.

Gleptosil, the first major product introduced by Alstoe Animal Health in 1995 is an injection to treat piglet anaemia. This drug is now a worldwide brand with class-leading market shares. In 1996, Alstoe entered the UK companion animal market, since that time, the company has developed and established many successful products.

Vetergesic, Alstoe’s best known UK veterinary pharmaceutical, has benefitted from the company’s continued programme of product development. This has led to improved usage and dosage information, an expansion of species and the introduction of a veterinary multi-dose pack.

Alstoe also supports many other popular brands including, for example, Easeflex Chews, Doxion and Virkon. Alstoe’s key business theme is to offer products designed or adapted specifically for veterinary use. This allows practises, using the products, to benefit from improvements in compliance, convenience and exclusivity.

In 2009 Alstoe introduced the UK’s first dedicated veterinary small animal complementary diets: VetPet Rabbit, VetPet Rabbit with Glucosamine and VetPet Guinea Pig.

Working in collaboration with a successful European manufacturer, Alstoe has introduced a unique and range of veterinary pharmaceuticals to the UK. The tablets branded Dolagis, Nelio, Therios and Xeden are flavoured to improve compliance. They are produced in easy-break formats and unusual dose sizes that improve dose accuracy for a wide range of animal weights.

The Flecknell Small Animal Laryngoscope, which allows easy visualisation of a rabbit’s larynx, enables intubation to be carried out in this species without difficulty. This was also introduced in 2009 and has sold in the UK, Europe and the USA

2010 has started well for Alstoe with the introduction of Easeflex Equine Pellets. This extends the Easeflex joint nutrient range and uses a highly palatable base to aid owner and patient compliance.
